The Straw Hat KeKe-Rita won the margarita challenge at the Florida Key Lime Pie Festival at Port Canaveral.

The Straw Hat Barmen took up the challenge to create two cocktails for the Florida Key Lime Pie Festival cocktail competition on Saturday, both made with a sponsor’s ingredient: KeKe Key Lime Pie Liqueur. Both were delicious, and the margarita recipe took first prize in the margarita challenge! The Barmen made their cocktails in front of an enthusiastic crowd at Port Canaveral. See more photos from the day here.

The Straw Hat KeKe-Rita

2 oz KeKe Key Lime Pie Liqueur
2 oz reposado tequila
1 oz dry curacao
1 oz lime juice
salt
grapefruit soda

Shake the KeKe, tequila, dry curaçao and lime juice and pour over ice in a collins glass. Salt the ice and top with grapefruit soda.

Our entry into the “martini” portion of the contest wasn’t exactly a martini, but it was definitely tiki, and it used rum, unlike most of the other contestants’ recipes, which used vodka.
